Individual Therapy for All Ages

We understand that every individual’s mental health journey is unique. KR Counseling provides individualized therapy for clients across all life stages:

  • Infants and Early Childhood

We specialize in child-centered therapies, including play therapy and child-parent psychotherapy, to support young children experiencing developmental, behavioral, or attachment-related challenges.

  • Children and Adolescents

With an emphasis on play therapy, attachment-based therapy, and behavioral therapy, we work with children and teens who may be experiencing anxiety, school-related issues, adjustment difficulties, or trauma. We offer a safe, supportive environment where young clients can explore and express their emotions.

  • Adults and Elderly Adults

We work with adults to address trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, and the unique challenges of caregiving for elderly loved ones. Our Christ-centered approach provides adults with the tools and support needed to overcome obstacles, develop emotional resilience, and deepen their faith as they navigate life’s complexities.

Specialized Focus Areas

At KR Counseling, we address a broad range of mental health concerns with sensitivity, expertise, and faith-centered guidance. Our specialized focus areas include:

  • Trauma and PTSD

Trauma affects each person differently, and the lasting impact can be profound. We are experienced in treating various forms of trauma, including:

    • Acute Trauma: Resulting from a single traumatic incident
    • Chronic Trauma: Due to repeated or prolonged exposure, such as ongoing abuse
    • Complex Trauma: Involving multiple traumatic events, often interpersonal in nature
    • We use trauma-focused therapies that empower clients to process and heal from their experiences, fostering resilience and a renewed sense of peace.
  • Behavioral Issues

Behavioral challenges often signal underlying emotional needs. We work closely with children and their caregivers to identify the causes behind behaviors, helping families develop effective coping strategies and communication skills.

  • Infant and Early Childhood Development

Early intervention is crucial for young children experiencing developmental or emotional challenges. We use play therapy, expressive therapy, and child-parent psychotherapy to support healthy attachment, emotional regulation, and self-expression.

  • School and Adjustment Challenges

Transitioning through life changes can be challenging for children and adolescents. Our counseling services provide a supportive framework for students struggling with school-related issues, peer relationships, or adjustment disorders, helping them build confidence and resilience.

  • Spiritual and Religious Support

As a faith-based counseling center, we offer spiritual support that aligns with each client’s unique beliefs and values. Our Christ-centered approach helps clients draw strength from their faith, offering a foundation of hope and resilience as they work through their mental health challenges.

  • Caregiver and Dementia Support

Caregiving for a loved one with dementia can be both rewarding and emotionally challenging. We offer support to caregivers, providing counseling and strategies for managing the stresses of caregiving while maintaining personal well-being.

Our Therapeutic Approaches

We recognize that each client’s journey to healing is unique, and we tailor our therapeutic techniques to meet their individual needs. Our approaches include:

  • Christian Counseling and Spiritual Guidance

Our faith-based counseling integrates spiritual support, helping clients connect their mental health journey with their relationship with God. By blending spiritual insight with therapeutic expertise, we provide a holistic approach that nurtures both emotional and spiritual growth.

  • Attachment-Based Therapy

Attachment-based therapy strengthens the bond between individuals, especially in child-caregiver relationships. By fostering secure attachments, we help clients build healthy connections and emotional resilience.

  • Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP)

Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) is a therapy approach designed to support children and their caregivers in healing from trauma and building a stronger, healthier relationship. It addresses the emotional needs of both the child and the caregiver, promoting a safe environment for healing.

  • Play Therapy and Expressive Therapy

Play therapy allows young clients to express emotions and experiences they may not yet be able to verbalize. Through the therapeutic use of play, children can explore and understand their feelings in a safe, supportive environment. Expressive therapy also incorporates art and creativity to encourage self-expression.

  • Behavioral Therapy and Psychoeducation

Behavioral therapy helps clients develop healthy coping strategies to manage their behaviors and responses to various situations. Psychoeducation empowers clients with an understanding of their mental health, providing tools to recognize and work through challenges.

  • Trauma-Focused Therapy

Trauma-focused therapy provides individuals with safe and effective strategies for processing and healing from traumatic experiences. We use a combination of approaches to help clients understand and overcome the impact of trauma, building resilience and fostering a sense of safety.

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Internal Family Systems (IFS) helps clients understand and harmonize their internal emotional parts, fostering a sense of inner peace and self-acceptance. This approach is particularly helpful for clients dealing with complex trauma and emotional challenges.
